Minibus and Sprinter Rental in Toronto

Toronto is a good city for a small group on wheels. The sights downtown sit close together, the best days out are one to three hours away, and 11 to 24 people fit in one minibus or Sprinter with a driver, so nobody has to split up or find parking.

Landing at Pearson or Billy Bishop

From Pearson it's about 28 km by road to Union Station: 25 to 30 minutes in light traffic, much longer at rush hour. For a chartered bus or minibus, someone in your party gives the company's name and your charter number to the Groundside Traffic Officer at the curb on the Arrivals Level, and the officer calls the vehicle forward. Both are in your booking confirmation.

Billy Bishop is on Toronto Island. You'll cross by the pedestrian tunnel or the 90-second ferry, and your driver collects you at the loading-only curb outside the mainland pavilion at the foot of Eireann Quay.

Stopping downtown without the stress

A bus may stop at a curb signed "No Parking" or "No Standing", but only while people get on or off; it can't wait there. So your driver sets you down, parks, and comes back at a time and corner you agree.

There are signed motor coach loading areas on York Street at the Sheridan Centre, on Victoria Street beside the CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre, and on Carlton Street at the Holiday Inn, handy for theatre nights. Toronto's idling by-law allows one minute of idling in any hour, so the engine won't be left running while you're out.

Where to go for the day

Both Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake take about 1.5 hours to reach, as does St. Jacobs in Waterloo Region. Stratford, Blue Mountain and Muskoka at Gravenhurst are about two hours; Algonquin's West Gate is closer to three.

On Highway 407, buses over 5,000 kg must carry a 407 ETR transponder; that's the operator's job, not yours.

Game days, shows and the Islands

Rogers Centre, Scotiabank Arena and BMO Field are a short hop from the downtown hotels, ideal for a visiting team. The Toronto Islands are car-free, so your driver drops you at the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, where Bay Street meets the water, and meets you there later. Canada's Wonderland in Vaughan makes an easy half day.

Your questions

We're 12 people with suitcases. Is a Sprinter big enough?

A Sprinter usually seats 17 to 19 with a luggage area behind the last row. If everyone has a full-size case, tell us the bag count; a midi coach with underfloor bays may suit better.

Can the driver wait outside the CN Tower while we go up?

Not at the curb. Your driver parks legally nearby and returns at the pickup time you agree.

Can we add the American side of the falls?

Yes, across one of the Niagara bridges. Our Niagara Falls page covers which crossings take buses and the documents to bring.

We've outgrown a minibus. Can we hire a coach and driver in Toronto?

Yes. Past 19 people, a midi coach seats 29 to 35 and a full-size coach 49 to 81, and each one is booked with its driver, just like a minibus.
