Hamilton by minibus: harbour, escarpment and Niagara days

Hamilton suits a small group well. The waterfront, the gardens and the escarpment are close together, and Niagara is only about an hour down the road. Tell us who's coming and where you'd like to go, and we'll match you with a licensed operator and a minibus or Sprinter that fits.

Landing at John C. Munro airport

Hamilton's airport is up in Mount Hope. From there it's roughly 15 km, or about 20 minutes, to City Hall and the downtown hotels. There's no published coach staging area, and shuttle pickups are arranged directly with whoever you book. Settle the meeting point before you fly; the taxi zone straight across from the Arrivals doors makes an easy landmark.

Flying into Pearson instead? That's a 70 km trip, usually 50 to 60 minutes when the highways are kind, and one minibus brings everyone together instead of splitting you across cars.

Downtown while the LRT goes in

The new Hamilton LRT is going in along King and Main, a Metrolinx project, and demolitions for it started in June 2026. Closures move as the work does, so the operator checks what's open before your day and picks a curb that works.

Heading to the Hamilton Convention Centre by Carmen's? Its parking is an enclosed multi-level garage, so plan on a street drop-off and ask the venue where the vehicle can wait.

  • Downtown / King Street and Jackson Square

Gardens, lions and waterfalls

Just 15 minutes over the Burlington line you'll find the Royal Botanical Gardens, where both RBG Centre and the Rock Garden have large surface lots. Those lots fill up on event days, so an early start pays off. African Lion Safari in Flamborough is about half an hour out.

Give yourselves an hour's drive to reach either Niagara Falls or Niagara-on-the-Lake, and you can see the falls in the morning and wander the old town after lunch.

Warplanes, a destroyer and game day

The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum sits right beside the airport, which makes it a neat first or last stop. HMCS Haida is moored at Pier 9, and Dundurn Castle sits near the harbour. On a Tiger-Cats game day at Tim Hortons Field, travelling together saves everyone the parking hunt.

Your questions

Can we pop over to Buffalo for the day?

Yes. Buffalo is about 100 km away over the Peace Bridge, roughly 75 minutes of driving with the border wait on top. Everyone on board needs travel documents that both countries accept, so check passports the night before.

How far is Toronto from Hamilton?

About 70 km to the city centre, roughly an hour, and longer at rush hour. Leave early for an evening show or game.

What size of vehicle should we ask for?

Share your headcount and luggage. Eight to 19 people usually suit a Sprinter or minibus; for a bigger party we can look at a midi-coach or coach.
