Halifax Stanfield to town, and on to the coast
Halifax Stanfield is well outside the city, roughly 35 km up Highway 102 from downtown, which makes the ride in a proper part of the journey. The meet at the terminal is straightforward as long as it's booked ahead.
Booked before you land
Here, a pre-arranged ride has to be booked before you land; car services, taxis and limousines line up at the Arrivals curb. The airport even keeps a public list of the licensed drivers who do pre-arranged trips.
It doesn't publish a coach staging area. Drivers meeting a flight can wait in the Standby Lot and come to the curb once the group is ready. Curbs are for quick pickups only, and unattended vehicles are ticketed and towed. Share your flight number so the move from the Standby Lot can be timed to your landing.

Down Highway 102
From Exit 6 it's about 35 km into Halifax, roughly 35 minutes in light traffic. Downtown along the waterfront, Spring Garden Road and Dartmouth across the harbour are the usual stops, and the Macdonald and MacKay bridges between Halifax and Dartmouth have had no tolls since March 2025.
Spending the last night near the airport in Enfield before an early flight makes the final transfer a matter of minutes.

- Curbs are for quick pick-ups and drop-offs only; unattended vehicles are ticketed and towed at the owner's expense.
- The airport publishes a list of licensed drivers who offer pre-arranged service.
- The airport is reached from Halifax by driving north on Highway 102 for about 35 km to Exit 6.
Heading for the South Shore
Many visitors land at Stanfield and make for the coast. From Halifax, Highway 103 and then Highway 333 take you about 45 km to Peggy's Cove, where parking gets scarce from 11:00 to 15:00, and visitors are asked to stay off residents' property. Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage old town, is about 100 km from Halifax, around an hour.
A minibus suits these days well: small enough for village streets, roomy enough for everyone's rain jackets and cameras.
Your questions
Is there a public bus into Halifax?
Yes: Route 320, Halifax Transit's Regional Express, runs between the airport and downtown, and you buy tickets from the ground transportation booth in Arrivals. It suits a solo traveller; a family with luggage usually prefers one vehicle.
We fly home via the United States. Where should we be dropped?
Drop-off at departures is split in two. The first area serves domestic and international flights; the second is for flights going direct to the United States. Tell the driver your flight so they stop at the right one.
Is Peggy's Cove manageable for older relatives?
There's an accessible viewing deck with long, shallow ramps, accessible parking and wheelchair-accessible washrooms. Mention any mobility needs when you book the vehicle.
