Saskatoon airport: fifteen minutes to town
Saskatoon's airport is inside the city limits, in the north-west, and downtown is only about 15 minutes away. That makes for a quick arrival, provided the vehicle is authorized to be there.
Authorized vehicles only
The airport is private property. Picking up, dropping off or doing any business there is for authorized parties only, and unauthorized commercial operators run into access restrictions and delays. The airport's licensed partners provide booked car service. Booking a licensed operator ahead keeps any of that from happening at the curb.
No coach staging area is published; the airport's Curbside Operations Group on site handles groundside questions. Rideshare drivers are told to wait in the cell phone lot rather than along the curb, and a group vehicle comes in when it's needed rather than parking outside.

A quick run to the river
It's about 7 km by road to downtown, around 15 minutes. Hotels along Spadina Crescent and the riverbank, on Broadway near the University of Saskatchewan, and around Airport Drive are all close. A Blades game at SaskTel Centre or a show at TCU Place fits easily into the evening you land.

Good to know at Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International Airport
- The airport is in the northwest of the city, inside Saskatoon's city limits.
- Rideshare vehicles may wait in the cell phone lot but not along the designated curb.
- Commercial vehicles licensed with the airport pay a pick-up and drop-off fee.
- The airport is private property: unauthorized commercial operators face access restrictions and delays on airport lands.
Mind the clock
Saskatchewan keeps Central Standard Time the whole year, with no daylight saving. In summer its clock matches Alberta; in winter it matches Manitoba. If relatives are connecting from Toronto or Vancouver, double-check the local arrival time before anyone books a pickup.
Where to go first
Wanuskewin Heritage Park is about 17 km out, some 20 minutes, with room for motorcoaches and guided visits for booked groups of anywhere from 10 to 160 people. Batoche National Historic Site is about 90 km away, roughly an hour. In town, a stretch of Saskatchewan Crescent, from the Broadway Bridge to the University Bridge, is off limits to vehicles over 5,000 kg gross, and routes are planned around that.
Your questions
Can we continue on to Regina?
Regina is about 240 km away, around two and a half hours by road. Some groups fly into one city and home from the other.
How long can the vehicle wait at our downtown hotel?
The city's hotel loading zones have a 15-minute limit, so be down in the lobby at the agreed time with bags packed.
Is Prince Albert National Park a day trip?
Waskesiu, in Prince Albert National Park, is about 230 km from Saskatoon, around two and a half hours, so it's better as a weekend. Manitou Beach, about 120 km away, makes a relaxed day out.
