Edmonton airport pickups for families and teams
Edmonton International is a fair way south of the city, out on Highway 2 by Leduc. That distance, and a terminal with no published coach area, shape how a group pickup works here.
Who waits where
At arrivals, taxis and limousines pull up outside Door 9. Any other driver needs prior arrangements with the airport to use the commercial taxi area. There's no published staging area for coaches; that's handled by the airport's Ground Transportation Office, which you'll find near Door 7 in Arrivals.
So the meeting point for your group is settled with the airport when the trip is set up. Make sure you know it before you fly, and if your confirmation doesn't say, ask.

While the bags come off
Drivers can't leave a vehicle standing at the curb: anything unattended is ticketed and may be towed. People meeting flights can use the Park & Wait lot, a minute's drive east, where Airport Road meets Airport Perimeter Road. Call the driver once the last bag is off the belt, and the vehicle can come round at the right moment.
The terminals
- Single passenger terminal
Good to know at Edmonton International Airport
- Accessible vehicles can be reserved in advance through the Ground Transportation Office.
- The on-airport shuttle for Airport City picks up outside Door 9 on the Arrivals level and can carry non-folding mobility aids.
- A Park & Wait area for those meeting passengers is one minute east of the terminal at Airport Road and Airport Perimeter Road.
- Vehicles may not be left unattended at the curb; those that are will be ticketed and may be towed.
- The airport is in Leduc County on Highway 2, about 30 km south of downtown Edmonton, opposite the city of Leduc.
Thirty-odd minutes into town
It's about 32 km by road to City Hall, roughly 35 minutes in light traffic. Downtown and the Ice District, Old Strathcona along Whyte Avenue and the West Edmonton Mall area are the usual bases. Landing on the day of an Oilers game at Rogers Place? Leave a comfortable margin.
Staying out by the airport, in Leduc or Nisku, turns the final transfer into a few minutes, which is welcome before a dawn departure.
Mobility needs
That same office can reserve an accessible vehicle for you ahead of time, and the shuttle to Airport City, which stops outside Door 9, takes non-folding mobility aids. If someone travelling with you needs a lift or a ramp, mention it when you request a quote so the operator can look for a suitable vehicle.
Your questions
Can we stop at West Edmonton Mall on the way in?
Yes. Groups arriving by tour bus or shuttle use Entrance 50, which you reach from 87 Avenue close to 175 Street. No vehicle may stay at the mall overnight.
Is Jasper realistic straight from the airport?
It's roughly 365 km from Edmonton to Jasper, a four-hour drive, which makes a long first day after a flight. Elk Island National Park, about 45 km out, is a gentler first outing.
Where exactly is the airport?
Just off Highway 2 in Leduc County, facing the city of Leduc, and about 30 km south of downtown Edmonton as the crow flies. Hotels in Leduc and Nisku are the closest to the terminal.
