Minibus and Sprinter Rental in Edmonton

Edmonton spreads out along its river valley, and the places visitors want to see are far enough apart that a shared vehicle makes sense. With a minibus or Sprinter and a driver, your group can go from the mall to the museum to the hockey game without anyone hunting for a parking spot.

The drive in from the airport

Edmonton International sits south of the city on Highway 2, in Leduc County, about 32 km by road from City Hall and about 35 minutes when traffic is light. It's a longer run than in many cities, so a vehicle waiting for you after a long flight is worth having.

The airport doesn't publish a coach staging area. Arrangements for group pickups go through its Ground Transportation Office, close to Door 7 on Arrivals, which also takes advance reservations for accessible vehicles. Vehicles can't be left unattended at the curb, and the driver can hold in the Park & Wait area a minute east of the terminal until you're through.

A day at West Edmonton Mall

Tour buses, shuttles and taxis use Entrance 50; drivers get there from 87 Avenue, not far from 175 Street. Your driver checks the current bus parking instructions with Mall Security before arriving, sets you down at Entrance 50 and collects you there later. There's no overnight parking at the mall for any vehicle.

With a waterpark and an amusement park inside, it's a natural choice for a youth group, a school reward trip or cousins at a family reunion.

Games, gatherings and the river valley

Oilers fans head to Rogers Place in the Ice District, which also stages big concerts, and Elks games are at Commonwealth Stadium. Conferences meet at the Edmonton Convention Centre, set into the valley bank beneath Jasper Avenue. Fort Edmonton Park, the Royal Alberta Museum and the Muttart Conservatory's glass pyramids all make relaxed outings, and Whyte Avenue in Old Strathcona is good for an evening stroll.

Half days nearby, and the long road to Jasper

About 40 minutes out lie two easy half days: the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village and Elk Island National Park. Drumheller and Calgary are about three hours. Jasper is about four hours each way, which is a lot for one day, so many groups stay a night or two.

Your questions

Can we see Jasper and come back the same day?

It's about eight hours of driving in total, which leaves little time there and makes a very long day for everyone, the driver included. An overnight stay usually works better.

Where does the driver meet us at the airport?

That's arranged with the airport's Ground Transportation Office for your arrival. You'll get the meeting details with your booking.

Can the minibus wait at the mall all day?

The driver will follow Mall Security's current parking instructions and meet you back at Entrance 50. Overnight parking isn't allowed.
