Race Weekend in Montreal, Sorted for Your Group
Formula 1 comes back to Montreal's Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve for the Canadian Grand Prix from 21 to 23 May 2027, with the race on the Sunday. For a group of friends or a motorsport club, a minibus or Sprinter with a driver covers the hotel runs, the airport and the trips to the island.
A sprint weekend in 2027
There's racing on all three days. Friday 21 May brings practice and sprint qualifying, Saturday the sprint and qualifying, and Sunday 23 May the Grand Prix itself. That's three trips to the island, not one.

How close a vehicle can get
Not very close. Unless it holds a valid parking pass, a vehicle can't go on site at all, and the Concorde Bridge and Avenue Pierre-Dupuy are closed to vehicles without one as well. Taxis and ride-hail cars had three drop-off points in 2026: rue de l'Écluse in Saint-Lambert, P8 beside La Ronde, and the Grand Prix Hub (Marc-Cantin Street), where a shuttle ran to the Casino Gate. No coach or minibus set-down is published, so the operator plans the set-down for your group and works from the closures published for 2027.
According to the organizer, the metro is the best way in, and the stop you want, Jean-Drapeau on the yellow Line 4, sits beside the Main Gate. One easy pattern is a minibus to a metro station near your hotel and the train for the last leg.
When and where
- Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, Parc Jean-Drapeau (Île Notre-Dame), Montréal
- May 21-23, 2027 (race on Sunday May 23)
Other ways across the water
River shuttles run from Longueuil and from the Old Port of Montréal, and reservations are mandatory. If anyone in your party has limited mobility, bear in mind that the yellow line isn't an accessible option from Berri-UQAM station, and tell us at the start so the operator can plan the most suitable drop-off.
Around the race
Montréal-Trudeau is about 19 km from downtown, around 25 minutes in light traffic. The airport asks for group pickups to be registered online in advance, with passengers meeting their driver at Door 7 upstairs on Departures. With a free morning, Old Montréal, Mount Royal and the Jean-Talon Market are short hops, and Mont-Tremblant is about 1.5 hours away if you stay on after the chequered flag.
Your questions
Can the minibus wait at the circuit?
No. Vehicles without a site parking pass aren't allowed on site, so the driver sets you down, leaves, and returns at an agreed time and place.
Is it worth booking early?
Yes. With racing on all three days you'll probably want a vehicle each day, and the sooner your dates are held, the more choice there is.
Are river shuttle seats part of the booking?
No. The booking covers your vehicle and driver. River shuttle reservations are made separately, and they are mandatory.
