Ten Days of Stampede, One Easy Ride
The Calgary Stampede runs from 9 to 18 July 2027. Whether you're bringing the whole family, a club or a wedding party in boots and hats, booking a minibus or Sprinter and driver for the week takes the parking question off your plate.
Parade morning
The Stampede opens with the parade through downtown on Friday 9 July 2027. Streets close early and stay closed for hours: on parade day in 2025, roads shut from 6:00 and didn't reopen until about 14:00. That was one year's timetable. Each year the City of Calgary posts that year's closures, so the operator plans your drop-off and pickup from the 2027 list once it's out.
The trick is to arrive before the barriers go up, then meet the vehicle well away from the route afterwards. Pick a landmark everyone can find, because a crowd that size makes it hard to spot one another.

When and where

Getting to and from Stampede Park
Only vehicles small enough for a standard parking stall may use Stampede Park's public and reserved lots, so minibuses and coaches can't park there. Taxis get designated drop-off points (Macleod Trail, Stampede Trail and Lot 7/8), but no coach set-down point is published. The operator plans where your driver lets you off and where the vehicle waits until you're ready to leave.
Accessible parking is in Lot 10. If anyone in your party uses a wheelchair or walks slowly, mention it when you book so the set-down is planned around them.
Through Stampede the CTrain keeps running 24 hours a day, and the grounds have two Red Line stations: Erlton/Stampede and Victoria Park/Stampede. Some groups ride the train in on a busy evening and keep the minibus for everything else.
Make a week of it
Stampede pairs well with the mountains. Banff is about 1.5 hours west, Canmore and Kananaskis Village about 1.25 hours, and the Royal Tyrrell Museum at Drumheller about 1.5 hours. Anyone entering Banff National Park, bus passengers too, has to have a Parks Canada pass.
Your questions
Where should we stay?
Downtown and the Beltline around Stampede Park keep you closest to the grounds. Hotels by Calgary International, about 19 km from City Hall, are further out but handy for arrivals.
Can the driver wait at the grounds all evening?
Not in the park's lots, since they don't take oversized vehicles. The vehicle waits wherever the operator arranges and comes back at the time you agree. Your quote shows the hours it covers.
When should we book for 2027?
As soon as your dates are firm. Small vehicles are in demand across the ten days, and parade morning needs the earliest start of the week.
